Welcome to the Tamworth u3a website

We are part of the u3a UK wide movement of locally run self interest groups aimed primarily at retired or semi-retired people. Our goal is to provide an active and supportive environment where members can explore new interests, engage in stimulating activities, and forge meaningful connections while, at the same time, having fun with fellow members.
We have a wide range of interest groups that you can join and we always interested in forming new interest groups. To find out more about the groups and exciting event please visit the Group page

Tamworth u3a Choir Concert in aid of Alzheimer’s Society.
An excellent evening of song and entertainment took place when the Tamworth u3a choir held a concert at the Sacred Heart Church in Glascote on Saturday 17th May. The choir, lead by Musical Director David Brookes, performed perfectly, helped by the excellent acoustics of the church.
Added to this Rhona of Simply Rhona fame performed some of the poems that she does absolutely perfect in character and then she lead the audience in a couple of songs that had them bobbing up and down from their seats.

The concert was held on that date to welcome in the Dementia Action Week that started on 19th May. Dementia Action Week is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative to get people to take a positive action towards helping people living with dementia. Tamworth Dementia Friendly Community have got a full program of events planned for the week, but that should only be the start.
With DAW in mind the concert was held with the aim of raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society and to this end over £850 was raised.
I personally want to thank the Tamworth u3a choir, David Brookes, Rhona and of course, Father Michael and The Sacred Heart Church, and everyone else that made the evening so lovely and successful.

Possibility of a Children's literature Group
Robert Bates, who runs three groups for us would like to know whether there might be some/any interest in having a children's literature u3a group?
His idea would be to have a monthly meeting and discuss one 'set' children's book each time, so that folk would have a month beforehand to read/reread it - hopefully not too onerous a task - and then you would discuss it within the group.
This group would not be until 2026 and would be held on a 1st Wednesday of the month at 10 until 12pm at St Andrews Church.
Please contact Robert Bates if you are interested.
