We had a great trip on Sunday 8th September to Stratford. The day started a bit wet but by midday the sun came out and we were able to enjoy all the sights of Stratford.

The trip included an excellent guided tour of Shakespeare's schoolroom. We were given a reenactment of a day at the school in the period that William Shakespeare would have been a pupil.

This was followed by a brief Latin lesson and a chance to practice our quill writing in the very classroom used in Shakespearean time. This is still being used today by the local school for History and Latin lessons.

For some there was also the opportunity to dress up as a Tudor Schoolmaster

Nobody got the birch!!!

After lunch we had free time to wonder. Some of the group ventured to the Stratford Butterfly Farm while others wonder round the Artisan market. The really adventurous crossed the river Avon on the Chain Ferry. Built in 1937 the ferry is one of the winding manual type. and was the last of its type to be made and used in Britain..
